Three Brothers Farm

HenPen Manual

When our family started to grow, we wanted to spend less time moving fences, and more time with our kids. We needed to streamline our egg production.

We were ending our days frustrated by the endless and unrewarding task of moving poultry netting.

But we still wanted to move our 2800 hens every day.

So we designed, refined, and simplified a fence system until we were completely happy with the final product. Basically, we decided to use electric netting to create a “yard” that slides along with the coop, held upright and taut with a slick system of bracing and lightweight pipes.

All said and done, this gives the flock 800 square feet of shade in the 20x40 Schooner and an additional 2200 square feet of fenced-in yard space. This design makes the 20-foot wide Schooner into a 40-foot wide unit. The design can be scaled up or down to fit your coop and your farm. The best part is that you never have to pick up a fence post.

Never handle your netting again.

Just move the coop and the fence slides right along with it. After a few moves, you will see that you can move the entire system in under five minutes with a single person, which makes daily moves a no-brainer. We were also able to increase our flock to 700 hens per coop instead of investing in additional coops.

Now we end work on time, satisfied, and with enough energy to spend quality time with our family.

And we have written the manual so you can build it on your farm, too.

You deserve to grow your farm without the struggle

  • Never handle your electric netting again!

  • Increase your flock size without buying another coop

  • Eliminate huge amounts of physical labor

  • Make daily paddock shifts a three to five minute chore with a tractor

  • Facilitate daily pasture moves regardless of time constraints.

  • Allow safe day ranging for poultry without the extra work

  • With one manual, you can build as many HenPens on your farm as you want.

  • Use it with broilers, hens, turkeys, or any other type of poultry that uses electric netting

  • Keep netting voltage extremely high, keeping your flock safe from predators

  • Electric netting stays straight and taut.

  • Keep tractor away from the flock, avoiding risk of running over birds.
